A grenade-shaped belt buckle caused a panic at London’s airport Tuesday morning, prompting a warning from city police.
London International Airport staff spotted what they believed to be a hand grenade inside one of the bags they were screening at about 5 a.m.
Police arrived to investigate the suspicious package but quickly determined it was a metal belt buckle shaped like a hand grenade.
While it isn’t illegal to carry or wear grenade-shaped belt buckles, police say they cause issues for unsuspecting airport security staff.
Police are asking passengers to visit the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA) website to check what’s allowed and banned from airplanes.
